International celebrity make up artist and Body Shop brand spokesperson Chase Aston gives us the lowdown on how to keep your make up looking fresh on the hot summer days that we are lucky enough to enjoy in London today!

Tip 1 - With some liquid and cream based foundations, the heat and humidity can melt the formulations and that is when your foundation starts to separate and head south. The same can also happen with cream blushers and eye-shadows. To avoid this in extremely hot and humid weather, make sure to always use natural mineral powder foundations, cheek colours and eye-shadows, with a water resistant / smudgeproof eye-liner pencil, and ALWAYS a waterproof mascara.

Tip 2 - When wearing eyeliner in hot and balmy conditions, always use either a water resistant or waterproof formulation as most pencils contain wax. To ensure a longer lasting liner, softly smudge a little eye-shadow over the line, this will help to set the pencil liner preventing it from creasing and separating.

Tip 3 - To keep blush in place, use either a cheek stain on the cheeks first, then dust over using a powder blusher. Try to avoid any cream based blushers, but if you do prefer to wear a cream formulation, once applied lightly dust over with a translucent loose powder to set.

Tip 4 - For the lips, always use a lip stain. Apply to a bare lip for a sheer rosy glow, re-apply and layer stain to intensify depth and colour. Stains are waterproof, smudge-proof, and long lasting in all weather conditions. You can then add a slick of lip balm with an SPF+ factor to add sheen and protection against the sun onto the lips.

Tip 5 -For a major make-up meltdown, take a large white tissue, close your eyes and gently blot down, from the hairline, eyes, corners of the nose, lips , chin and jawline, softly pressing down all over for a few minutes, then remove tissue. If your eye-shadow has creased, close your eye-lid and softly press a finger against lid and smooth remaining shadow all over the eye. Wipe away any mascara / liner smudges. Follow this by blotting your cheeks again with a tissue and gently rub with the flat of your finger to smooth remaining blusher. Make sure and always carry a packet of portable disposable powder blotting papers. Press onto the T-zone, Forehead, Nose and Chin to remove any excess shine. Finally wipe the lips clean and add a wash of lip balm or gloss.
