Presenters & Brands
Presenters

James Brown is a hair expert and TV presenter. If you’ve ever wondered how the A List stars step out with the most beautiful, polished hair? then James will often be responsible.

James started his hairdressing career at Zoo in Covent Garden and then moved to Brinks and Huck as a hair stylist at the age of 22.

Quickly becoming freelance, James has gone on to work with some of the best known names in the fashion and film industry.

During James early career, he met Kate Moss who has become a close friend. James was responsible for styling Kate’s hair for the famous Corinne Day British Vogue 1993 cover.

Brown was part of the movement that changed the course of fashion from supermodel chic to anti-fashion. James’ belief that you have to ‘step out to bring something fresh in’ is still an inspiration for him today. James continues to experiment with new ideas before the masses adopt these looks into the main stream.

James has worked with Liv Tyler, Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson, Alicia Vikander, Demi Moore, Nicole Kidman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Minogue, Sarah Jessica Parker, Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller and Johnny Depp.

Photographers James has worked with include: Patrick Demarchelier, David Simms, Nathaniel Goldberg, Mario Testino, Peter Lindberg, Richard Avedon and Irvin Penn. He has created the hair for catwalk shows for the designers, which include Fendi, Calvin Klein, Donna Karan and Marni.

Editorial work includes the British, US, French, Italian and Japanese editions of Vogue, W Magazine, i-D and Numero.

James professional presenting skills have seen him appear in the 10 part series ‘The Great British Hairdresser’ where he was responsible for judging the country’s top hair stylists, as they competed to be crowned the ‘Great British Hairdresser’. E4 also made a documentary on James, called ‘Super Model Salon’ where they followed him launching his first London salon.

Since being named “Hairdresser of the Year” at the 2001 Elle Style Awards, James has been Creative Director for Clairol (UK) and GHD (UK), and now has his own unique hair care range ‘James Brown London’.

James has a huge love of horses and has been riding horses since he could literally walk. He also enjoys spending time in the countryside.
